“Mother Earth must be loved.”
28-29 April 2006: My entire previous adventure in southern part of Luzon made me realize that the way to all of its provinces offer a great view of mountain ranges and lush green fields.
The Matabungkay beach stretch is one of the most accessible beaches in the province of Batangas. Located in western part of the province, the place offers a sneak view of South China Sea and Lubang Island. The popular image of the beach led to over population especially during summer. Lots of visitors from nearby provinces like Laguna, Cavite, and Quezon gathered here to experience the salinity of sea water of Matabungkay. The beach has a long shore line which let you swim even a bit farther, even though there were lots of floating restaurant (some say ‘floating cottages’) all over the beach. They almost occupied the entire beach front. Others found it nice and comfy but for me it’s not. When I go to beach, I really want to see the beach front with sunset or sunrise reflecting to the surface water and I also want to play with the approaching waves from the open sea. Too bad, because of the numerous presences of these floating restaurants, they’re blocking the main two of the hundred reasons why I want to go to the beach. Even so, we just enjoyed swimming and tasting the salty sea water.
Let’s face the fact that in time, even the most unspoiled beach will experience the exploitation from irrational mankind. We are living in a fast-paced modern technology world today; I hope that the natural beauty of beaches will not be the subject of this changes, I hope that its exquisite features will still remain for a long time.
