“Cousins from the beginning, friends till the end!”
24 July 2006: A 45-minute uphill walk from the white beach of Puerto Galera, the small falls offers chilling water and a great pool to swim and play. Together with my cousins (Aimee, Shella, Allan, Eya, Laiza and Tito Jimmy) and alipores (Papu and Antonio), we enjoyed the walk in a heavy rain and the accommodating locals of Poblacion.

It was raining all through out the hike; everyone was wet including our money. Luckily I put my phone into a plastic bag and captured few photos of the trek and the captivating Aninuan Falls. It was merely 2 kilometers away from the beach, even uncles and aunties can do the hike in which the level of difficulty is 1/10.

We saw locals washing their clothes in the river (running water came from Aninuan Falls), then we crossed many small improvised bridges on our way. No entrance fee or any other fees from entering the site, but I noticed that there was a small wooden gate and it seems like before some people were collecting fees to those who want to enter the site of Aninuan Falls. The cold water of the falls was amazingly enjoyable. And sitting in the near end of the falls was frantically fantastic. You can do slide also from the top of the falls down to the basin, actually my cousin Allan had tried it and fortunately got no scratches on his back.

The basin is deep that’s why you can freely slide and dive from the top but you should be careful also. After an hour of playing and swimming, we head back to the beach and enjoy the huge waves from Typhoon Glenda (Kaemi).

My cousins are my friends too; it was a happy experience and one of a kind adventure with them. Especially the hiking part, wherein there was a heavy rain all through out and the bonding that we had is of course, unforgettable.

ReplyDelete2 kilometers? medyo malayo rin pala. Mt. Malasimbo in Puerto Galera looks more challenging, sana natry mo rin.
