Tatlong Krus and Matabungka Falls: The treasures of Mt. Humarap

Tatlong Krus on top of Mt. Humarap

Mt. Humarap is a relatively easy hike that will let you see the entire town of Paete beneath. It is about 30-45 minutes hike and classified by many as a minor climb. Tatlong Krus (Three Crosses) are situated on top of the hill. It is a popular pilgrimage site in town and usually crowded during Holy Week (same time when we came in - 06 April 2009). Picnic cottages, local store, and comfort rooms are present on top of the hill. Few locals are living there and giving those services.

Matabungka Falls is of course a must visit site in Mt. Humarap. Heading down will take you 10-15 minute walk from Tatlong Krus via guided and cemented stairs; this medium-sized waterfall will allow you to enjoy its comparatively clean and cold water. Soaring from 20-25 meters high with greens all over the place, it’ll give you a relaxing view. The basin is quite good for a small group who wants to swim.

Laguna is a province in southern metropolitan which is wealthy in natural resources and habitat. The province has plenty of mountains (and surrounding mountains) to hike, waterfalls to explore, and resorts to discover. Tourism industry improves from time to time especially nowadays because of responsible leaders that we have especially in southern and eastern part. Aside from these two must see places in Paete; the town is famous in its sweet lanzones and woodcrafts. Woodcrafts that is world-class in quality and in design aspect.
