Calatagan Beach: A glimpse of western Batangas

“You don’t need to be rich to enjoy life.”

30 September – 01 October 2006: Calatagan is rich in Spanish history. You can spot it from their houses, monuments, places of interests, etc. It is a 1st class municipality in the province of Batangas, nearby resorts and leisure places usually built for the rich and famous.  Since we are not rich and famous, haha, we went to a remote area which is in western part of the municipality where the Punta de Santiago lighthouse was located. There were two nipa huts, long white beach, vast grasslands, and a very peaceful place which were waiting for us.

The place was not yet commercialized and we were the only visitor by that time. We enjoyed the long shallow beach and the great view of the sunset on the first day.

The following day we just had a walk to its rocky shore, small hills, nearby greens and site seeing within the beachfront. Activities were limited to swimming, nature trip and relaxation, and these are exactly what we want. It was a wonderful experience to stay in this place which was still untouched, un-commercialized and un-abused. You can feel the Mother Earth’s genuine and unsullied aura.

By the way, I think this was my first time introducing my girlfriend (now, exgirlfriend) to my cousins. It was a memorable and exciting experience to cherish. Thank you for the love, patience, priceless time and efforts you had exerted.
