Mt. Buntot Palos (a.k.a. Hidden Falls): A different dimension

04-05 March 2006: Tim gives me an overview of mountaineering, like how to enjoy it, normal activity to do, preparing checklist, dos and don’ts, etc. He also influenced me to conquer all my fears, try new things and enjoy the challenges in life.

Laguna mountains were almost all rain forest. Many trees, grasslands, falls, water source, almost all of them have the same settings. In this activity we experienced to walk with carabaos and horse carrying tree stacks and charcoals. We didn’t reach the summit, maybe because it was not accessible yet.

We just camp in the flatlands merely 2 hours away from jump-off. There was a small abandoned bahay kubo (local term for Nipa Hut) which happened to be our savior from the heavy rain that downpour in the late evening. The way to Buntot Palos Falls was tricky; we lost twice and took us one hour to reach. Some paranormal activity also was observed based on photos and other instances felt by my friend. The falls is high, about 6-8 storey and the basin is deep.

We dare each other to swim from one end of the basin to the other side, bravely, all of us succeeded except for the two ladies. It was a bit scary because we can’t see the bottom of the basin even though the water was clear and we were thinking that a dinosaur or extraordinary creature might blast and eat us, haha! Funny, childish thinking, we ended up happily and brought home the smile in our faces. At our age and we still believe in a ghost. Silly!

We didn’t have too much activity in this trip but the experience of being in a different aspect in life was spectacular; it looks like you are in a different world, a world of supernatural’s and paranormal.
