Pansol: An overnight stress-reliever

“I don’t remember days; I remember moments.”

23-24 June 2007: Few days after the start of my second work in Manila, I asked my cousins to strike a weekend with a stress relieving activity. Since time and place is our chief enemy, the wheels of my cousins’ Strada just led us to a private pool resort in Brgy. Pansol Calamba, Laguna.

The town of Calamba and Los Banos in the province of Laguna is well-known in the country for its numerous pool resorts. Almost every home in the area has swimming pool especially those constructed in private and new villages. Thanks to Maria Makiling Mountain which gives the towns’ prosperous water source. Booking a resort on the spot that time was not a problem; because summer has already ended and rainy season was coming in. During rainy seasons, the accommodation fee usually cut by thirty to fifty percent of its normal amount. So, it is a practical way to spend reunions or excursions at the said town during rainy seasons to save money. Haha. This downtown Laguna is rich also in coconut pastry products and specialties. There’s one bakeshop which is very famous in Los Banos Laguna, The Original Buko Pie, it was located along the highway and sometimes can caused heavy traffic in the area because of lots of customers wanting to taste its pride. Laguna has something more to offer aside from pool resorts and native delicacies, if you travel few hours more, you’ll reach Paete, Pila, Pagsanjan, Pakil and many more which are rich in culture, history, and places of interest.

Back to the resort, it was a small pool resort that can accommodate a small family or group of friends. We didn’t prepare too much for this activity because after office hours we directly headed to the resort, brought our stuff and just bought food and drinks along the way. In the resort, we just had some small talks, share stories, drink (too much?), eat, swim, and sleep. Luckily, my cousin Elay and her friend Catherine was in the mood that time to entertain us by their cool voice during the drinking session.

By the way, I met Catherine in my Balay Indang escapade, a good friend of my cousin Elay. A girl that I used to love before ~
